He received his M.Sc. degree in Theoretical Nuclear Physics from the Moscow Physical Engineering Institute in 1969, where he was bestowed with the so-called Red Diploma, indicating that his marks never fell below the level of an A. In 1972, he received a Prize in Physics from the National Young Scientist Society. In 1973, he received his Ph.D. in the Theory of Semiconductors from the P.N. Lebedev Physical Institute of the USSR Academy of Sciences.〔Maev, Roman Gr.
